A tool box usually fails at one small part. The lid stops staying up, a key goes missing, a handle works loose, a latch quits catching. None of that is a reason to buy a new box, because those parts are sold on their own, and that is what this section is.

Measuring your bed
Put a tape measure inside the bed, from the inside of the bulkhead (front wall) to the inside of the closed tailgate. Round to the nearest inch — a 69" measurement is a 5'8" bed.
Bed length is measured inside the box, not along the outside of the truck.

UWS supplies most of it: gas lift cylinders and the brackets they mount to, twist-lock and folding T-handles, replacement keys, striker brackets, and the connector rod that ties both handles together so a lid opens from either side of the truck. One thing is worth doing before you order: find the model number on your box. These parts are specific, and a handle or a bolt kit for a neighboring model will not always interchange.
Common Questions
My tool box lid will not stay up. What do I need?
That is almost always the gas lift cylinder. They lose pressure over the years and eventually cannot hold a lid on their own. Replacements are listed here, along with the top cylinder bracket that gives the cylinder its mounting point on the lid, so check that too if the old one has torn out of the sheet metal.
How do I find the right part for my box?
Go by the box model number rather than by how the part looks. Manufacturers list replacement parts against the specific boxes they fit, and the WEATHER GUARD bolt kits here are named for the models they belong to. The number is usually on a label inside the lid or on the original paperwork.
