Deeper, sharper, louder or quieter than what the factory chose is all on the table. A resonator works alongside it, tuned to cancel the narrow band of frequency that shows up as drone at cruising speed.

Measuring your bed
Put a tape measure inside the bed, from the inside of the bulkhead (front wall) to the inside of the closed tailgate. Round to the nearest inch — a 69" measurement is a 5'8" bed.
Bed length is measured inside the box, not along the outside of the truck.

Most of this section is direct fit. MagnaFlow builds muffler replacement kits for specific trucks and cars with clamp-on and bolt-on ends, so the swap happens in the existing hangers without cutting the rest of the system apart. Some of those kits include a muffler and some are the tubing only, for people running their own.
Borla is here with its own muffler families, including multi-core and sportsman designs. Rough Country builds a straight-through delete kit that takes the muffler out of the picture entirely, which is the loudest thing on this page and worth understanding before you order it.

Common Questions
What does a resonator do that a muffler does not?
A muffler quiets the whole exhaust note. A resonator is targeted, tuned to cancel one specific frequency, usually the one that turns into cabin drone at a steady highway speed. That is why a truck can sound good under throttle and still make you miserable at seventy if the resonator is not doing its job.
Will a new muffler hurt my fuel mileage?
Changing a muffler mostly changes sound. Any effect on how a modern engine breathes tends to be small, and how you drive afterward usually matters more than the part, since a truck that sounds good gets more throttle. Treat a muffler as a sound decision first and anything else as a bonus.
Is a muffler delete legal where I live?
Noise rules are set at the state and local level and vary a great deal, sometimes between neighboring towns. A delete kit removes the primary silencer, so expect a considerably louder truck at idle and under load. Check the rules where you drive and where you park before you buy one.
