Measuring your bed
Put a tape measure inside the bed, from the inside of the bulkhead (front wall) to the inside of the closed tailgate. Round to the nearest inch — a 69" measurement is a 5'8" bed.

What does a light bracket actually do?
It holds the light in a specific position on the vehicle and keeps it there. That means the right height, the right angle, and a mount solid enough that vibration does not walk the aim off over a few thousand miles. It also puts the light somewhere the maker has already worked out, rather than wherever there happened to be a hole.
