Ball Mounts & Hitch Balls
Trailer Ball Mounts for Every Hitch & Trailer
A trailer hitch without the right ball mount is only half the equation. The ball mount is the critical link between your receiver hitch and your trailer coupler, and getting the drop, rise, ball size, or weight rating wrong is a safety hazard, not just an inconvenience. H&H Truck & Outdoor carries fixed and adjustable ball mounts from trusted brands to complete any towing setup.

Measuring your bed
Put a tape measure inside the bed, from the inside of the bulkhead (front wall) to the inside of the closed tailgate. Round to the nearest inch — a 69" measurement is a 5'8" bed.
Bed length is measured inside the box, not along the outside of the truck.

What Is a Ball Mount?
A ball mount is the component that slides into your hitch receiver and holds the trailer ball at the correct height to match your trailer's coupler. Most consist of a shank that fits the receiver, a platform or "drop" section to raise or lower the ball height, and the trailer ball itself (sold separately or as a kit). Getting the right ball mount ensures your trailer tows level, which is critical for handling, braking, and tire wear on both the tow vehicle and the trailer.
Fixed vs. Adjustable Ball Mounts
Fixed Ball Mounts
Fixed ball mounts are a single-piece design with a set drop or rise. They are simple, strong, and often the most affordable option, ideal for drivers who always tow the same trailer with the same vehicle. If you know exactly what drop or rise you need and don't plan to change your setup, a fixed ball mount gets the job done reliably.
Adjustable Ball Mounts
Adjustable ball mounts let you change the drop or rise height by repositioning the ball platform on the shank. That makes them ideal for drivers who tow multiple trailers with different coupler heights, or who want flexibility if they upgrade their tow vehicle or trailer later. Many adjustable models also accommodate two different ball sizes on a single mount, eliminating the need to carry multiple ball mounts for different trailers.
For lifted trucks in particular, an adjustable ball mount is often essential, since the factory-specified drop may no longer be sufficient after a suspension lift.
Weight-Rated & Heavy-Duty Ball Mounts
For drivers towing near their vehicle's maximum rated capacity, brands like Gen-Y Hitch, BulletProof Hitches, and Weigh Safe offer heavy-duty ball mounts engineered for higher tongue and gross trailer weight ratings. Weigh Safe's built-in scale ball mounts add a unique safety feature: an integrated tongue weight gauge that lets you verify your trailer is properly loaded before you hit the road.
Trailer Ball Sizes & Coupler Compatibility
The trailer ball size must match your trailer's coupler exactly. The three most common sizes are 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16". Using the wrong ball size, even one that appears to latch, creates a dangerous connection that can fail under load. H&H carries ball mounts and trailer balls in all standard sizes to ensure a safe, properly rated connection for your specific trailer.
Brands Carried at H&H
H&H stocks ball mounts from Andersen Hitches, B&W Towing, Blue Ox, BulletProof Hitches, Buyers Products, CURT, Fastway, Gen-Y Hitch, Rugged Ridge, Smittybilt, Trimax, and Weigh Safe, covering everything from basic fixed mounts to premium adjustable and heavy-duty systems.
Not all ball mounts are made alike. Maybe you're connecting a new trailer and need a ball mount that fits, or maybe your ball mount has been damaged and you need a replacement before your next big trip. When you shop with H&H, you'll always find a quality replacement.
