The 700 is a molded fiberglass lid that sits flush in the bed with no visible trim at the edges. It opens on LEER's SuperLift system with a 4-bar articulating hinge, so it swings clear of the cab rather than just tipping up, and a pull-down strap gets it back closed. Automotive-style rotary latches and a twist handle lock it; there is an inside release lever so nobody gets shut in.

The line beside it
A painted lid is a one-piece hard tonneau that closes the bed flush and lifts on hinges, finished in automotive paint like the truck. LEER makes exactly one of these now - the 700. It is the only current LEER fiberglass tonneau; the older 550 has been dropped from the line.
Against a LEER cap: the 700 covers the bed but adds no height and no standing cargo space - it is a lid, not a shell. Against LEER's Rollitup, which is the brand's other tonneau: the Rollitup is a retractable slat cover that rolls into a canister and is not painted to the truck; the 700 is a solid painted panel that lifts. Against the discontinued 550: the 700 replaced it.
Someone who wants the bed covered and locked without giving up the truck's lines - a cap is more space than they need, and a soft cover is less security than they want.
