Today’s trucks and SUVs are built to Federally-mandated specifications, regarding crashes and impacts. While some vehicles like the Jeep Wranglers offer some steel bumpers, they are more of an exception to the rules. Trucks that are produced with metal bumpers are made with lighter-gauge metals, in order to absorb impacts.
